Who We Are

Craft • Calling • Purpose

RDS Forge is a small, independently operated blacksmith shop based in Southern California's High Desert, where fire, hammer, and steel come together to create hand-forged metalwork, functional goods, metal art, and custom creations.

I'm CJ, the founder and blacksmith behind RDS Forge. Every piece that leaves my forge is made by hand, with attention to craftsmanship, character, and purpose.

But RDS Forge is about more than what comes off the anvil.

Craft

Blacksmithing is a trade rooted in patience, perseverance, and the willingness to keep learning. From practical tools and everyday goods to decorative metalwork and custom commissions, I believe in creating pieces that reflect honest work and thoughtful craftsmanship.

The goal isn't simply to make something out of steel. It's to make something worth using, displaying, sharing, or passing along.

Calling

Before RDS Forge became a business, God was already placing a calling on my heart.

I believe the Lord has called me toward missionary work in Lorient, France. I don't know exactly when that chapter will begin, but I trust His timing. For now, my responsibility is to faithfully steward the time, talents, and opportunities He's given me.

Inspired by the Apostle Paul, who supported his ministry through tentmaking, I'm building RDS Forge around a tentmaker ministry model: developing a legitimate, sustainable business through my trade while preparing for the mission ahead.

The forge is both a livelihood and an opportunity to serve people, build relationships, and reflect my faith through the way I work.

Purpose

I believe craftsmanship and calling belong together.

RDS Forge exists to create meaningful, hand-forged work, serve customers with honesty and integrity, and build something that can support the work God has placed before me.

Every purchase, custom commission, conversation, and connection helps this small business grow. And as the business grows, so does the opportunity to serve others, both here in the High Desert and wherever the Lord leads.

Whether you're looking for a handcrafted piece, considering a custom project, or simply interested in the story behind the forge, I'm grateful you're here.

Craft • Calling • Purpose

To God be the glory.
